California State Assembly Moves Forward on Prevailing Wage Bill
SB X8 26, a bill to finance energy and water efficiency improvements for commercial and residential property using state loan guarantees – and which includes state prevailing wage protections – passed two Legislative hurdles this on March 9.
The bill passed the Assembly Local Government committee on a 6-1 vote and the Assembly Natural Resources committee on an 8-1 vote. Republicans Danny Gilmore (Hanford) and Dan Logue (Chico) voted in favor of the measure supporting the Building Trades position and emphasizing the creation of 20,000 jobs.
The State Building Trades Council has worked overtime to establish valuable relationships with Republican members and these crucial votes show the hard work is paying off.
The bill, currently in the special session fast track, moves to the Assembly Appropriations Committee on March 10 before moving to the Assembly Floor on March 11.
