President Mark Ayers Speeck to Virginia BCTC Convention
Thank you.
Brothers and Sisters, over the course of the last year I have had the opportunity to give a great deal of speeches. They have been to business and industry, contractor associations and labor groups. And in those speeches, I have tended to focus on how America’s Building Trades Unions are working feverishly to create job opportunities for our members.
President Mark Ayers Keynote Address to 68th Annual Convention
Thank you.
Brothers and Sisters…Ladies and Gentlemen.
It is my great privilege to welcome you to the 68th convention
of the Building and Construction Trades Department.
We are proud to hold this convention in the great state of Minnesota. You have a rich labor heritage that gave us the Knights of Labor and the Democrat Farm Labor Party, as well as three stalwart politicians who held the organized labor movement close to their hearts: Hubert Humphrey, Walter Mondale and Paul Wellstone.

You deserve the honor and recognition for all your devotion and hard work.
Remarks by BCTD President Mark Ayers to the TAUC Leadership Conference
Thank you, Steve.
And thank you all for that warm welcome. I am certainly pleased to be here today because I always relish the opportunity to be with our friends, our partners, and our customers. In my view, the growth of TAUC through labor-management cooperation and a joint strategic vision will enable the growth of our building trades unions because we are interconnected and dependent upon each other.

Thank you for that warm welcome.
I am certainly pleased to be here today and I have been looking forward to this opportunity for some time, as Labor Management relations is such an integral part of what is important to me.
When Mark Johnson first proposed the idea of my speaking to the entire Labor Relations staff of Parsons, I jumped at the chance.
Remarks by BCTD President Mark Ayers to the 2010 BCTD National Legislative Conference
Thank you very much. Ladies and gentlemen, brothers and sisters…Today we meet in this great hall at a pivotal time in American history and in the history of America’s Building Trades Unions. Together, as Americans and as trade unionists we must decide whether to wither in the face of our current economic adversity or work like hell to wrestle it into submission. I am not going to stand at this podium today and tell you about the dreadful unemployment situation in our industry. You live this nightmare everyday and it’s embodied in the faces of our members as they turn to you for help.
